Chris Rock, Kings of Leon join roster of Brad Pitt's Make It Right gala in New Orleans

Comedian Chris Rock will host the Make It Right foundation’s star-studded fundraising gala at the Sugar Mill on Convention Center Boulevard on May 17, 2014, organizers announced. Also, Kings of Leon – who recently headlined the Smoothie King Center – have joined a roster of performers that includes Bruno Mars.

Brad Pitt, the co-founder of Make It Right, is also scheduled to be in attendance.

Only $2,500 individual tickets — good for a VIP reception, the gala dinner and the after-party featuring Mars — are still available, along with full tables and corporate sponsorships.

Founded in 2007, the Make It Right foundation has built 100 environmentally friendly homes, designed by some of the world’s top architects, in the Lower 9th Ward. Though best known for its efforts in post-Katrina New Orleans, Make It Right is also involved in other projects, including an apartment building for disabled vets in Newark, N.J., a community development in Kansas City, Mo., and homes for Native Americans on the Fort Peck Reservation.

The Foundation’s sold-out 2012 fundraising gala at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans was a star-studded affair, featuring Pitt, Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Brees, Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Kanye West, Aziz Ansari, Seal, Snoop Dogg, and local favorites the Soul Rebels. That event raised $4 million for the construction of 20 homes, the organization said.

"We're looking forward to an amazing night and we're so grateful and excited to have Chris as our host," said Tom Darden, Make It Right's executive director. "This is already an incredible line-up and we've got more announcements to come."

Additional artists and special guests will be announced over the next few weeks.

Additionally, Groupon is, for a limited time, offering $10 chances to enter a sweepstakes to win a VIP trip to the Make It Right gala and a "group meet-and-greet" with Pitt.
